The creators of The Silence clearly drew inspiration and ideas from the work of the great master of horror films, Alfred Hitchcock. Here there is a black and white palette and the build-up of suspense with disturbing music and the main character with amnesia waking up in a cheap roadside hotel and, of course, the ubiquitous noisy crows.
